SUMMARY:Op Shop Grand Opening
DESCRIPTION:Southside Church is pleased to announce the official opening of the Southside Care Op Shop\, on Wednesday\, 28 May 2025. The Op Shop will operate from the Church premises at 175 Port Hacking Road\, Miranda\, and will initially be open Wednesday to Friday\, 9:00am–4:00pm\, and on the first Saturday of each month\, 9:00am–1:00pm. \nOperated under Southside Care\, the Church’s charitable arm\, the Op Shop represents an expansion of over a decade of community support\, which includes the ongoing provision of food hampers to individuals and families doing it tough. The need for this support has significantly increased in 2025\, with a 40% rise in people accessing the Southside Care food care pantry. \nTo help meet these growing needs\, Christine Sutton has been appointed as the Op Shop Manager. She brings experience and passion to this new initiative\, which will offer affordable clothing\, toys\, and household items in a supportive and welcoming environment. \n“The number of people accessing our food care pantry has increased 40% this year alone\,” said Phil Macarthur\, the senior pastor of Southside Church. “Through our partnership with SecondBite\, we’ve been able to expand our capacity to meet this need and opening the Op Shop allows us to respond directly to additional needs raised by Food Pantry visitors and others in the community.
